Claerwen Dam
It is the biggest dam of series builds in this area, It is located in Powys, Wales.  The extensive drought of 1937 forced British to build more reservoirs in this area to meet the need for clean water for Birmingham city. It is 184 ft high and 1167 ft long.
It took six years to build with the force of 470 workers. It was opened in Oct 1952 by Crowned Queen Elizabeth ll, it was her first official ceremony.

Lake of this dam also has very scenic views.

It is very simple in design.
In summer when its water overflow from the height of 120 feet, it gives the magnificent look of a natural waterfall.
The identical stone building work can be seen on both sides of the river.

Craig Goch Dam
Is the highest upstream dam of the series. It is located at height of 1040 feet above the sea level. Foundation work was started in July 1897.
It has a most attractive view of its curved retaining wall.
